Islam is one of the slow, yet constantly growing religions in the Southern African country of Namibia, with more and more people converting on a regular basis. However, the religion, to some of the Namibian people, is incorrectly viewed as a deviant religion and that of violence, hence their lack of tolerance towards it and anyone associated to it resulting in some converts being chased out of their homes from their own family members.
Shaykh Abdullah Salih (pictured in the centre) a Namibian convert and founder of Namibia National Zakat and Fund Trust (Zakat Namibia) in collaboration with Pertubuhan Kebajikan Erth Ul Mustafa Johor Bahru (EMO) founded by Shaykh Imran Angullia as it's main donor, have endeavored to assist these destitute converts who are currently struggling and experiencing hardships which come in the form of financial “sanctions” from some, if not all, family members, as a result of their acceptance of Islam.
Although the needs of our destitute and struggling Muslim convert brothers and sisters are many, some of their priority needs remain the basic necessities such as food, just to mention a few.
Despite the previous food distributions, Iftar programs and other humanitarian works which have been carried out by Zakat Namibia, as per facilitation by EMO, to all Muslims in general and for the Muslim converts in particular, the need still remains high and with your help, we will definitely, by the permission of Allah, be able to have a greater impact on the lives of our fellow Namibian Muslim convert brothers and sisters.
After converting to Islam, I was fortunate enough not to be kicked out of the house, I did however witness many convert brothers and sisters around me receiving very harsh treatment from their family members, as a result of their new chosen path and their new chosen Religion, to the extent that their new homes became local mosques and at times, squatter camps in the outskirt of the city.
A few converts then decided to gather and establish Zakat Namibia as a means of addressing these communal issues by reaching out to the local as well as international community to inform them about the situation of the converts and to create awareness about their conditions with the hopes of easing hardships which our fellow brothers and sisters are experiencing and empowering them so they too one day could be a means of benefit and empowerment to the community in general and other struggling converts in particular.
Our website (www.zakat.na) is our main platform of communication where those in need and those willing to assist could reach out to Zakat Namibia. The funds collected and the foods purchased as a result thereof, will be fairly distributed across Namibia through designated representatives of Zakat Namibia, with a special emphasis on the most-needy converts and those who are most vulnerable from among them such as, but not limited to, orphans and the elderly.

Provide water wells for muslims in Philippines
MASJID MULAWIN IN BARANGAY MULAWIN, PHILIPPINES
Masjid Mulawin is located at Barangay Mulawin, about 80KM from Zamboanga City, Phillipines. The main source of water for the jema’ah have always been from the rain water. Previously, it was a stable source of water for all the villagers.
However, due to climate change, people are facing more extreme weather. Non rainy days stretch longer and the monsoon is getting rougher.
We often don’t realize that people are facing challenges in simply wanting to do wudhu’ for praying their Jumu’ah prayers. The villagers hope we can prepare the water well for them to fulfill this part of ibadah and their daily routine too such as cooking and cleaning. By providing an automated water well, we will reap the rewards of the villagers doing wudhu, drinking, cooking and everything else from it, inshaAllah.
